I don't remember hating the FY OAVs this much when I saw the fansubs. Only 9 episodes and it took three days to view them. It was painful. So painful.

The first three were just horrible. Confusing, pointless, and rather anti-climatic. Even if Nakago was in them. The 'bus trip' omake were FAR better than the omake for the second series (god, I'd have paid three times the price if all 9 episodes were set on that bus trip!) the OAVs themselves..bleh.

The second OAV series though. Oh my, my, my. FY was already bordering between 'dramatic romance' and '$1 smutty Harlequin' but the second OAVs just follow that latter path with no restraint. The humanity.

I find it funny that the OAVs, aimed at GIRLS, based on a successful GIRLS' anime based on a popular GIRLS' manga, had a buxom female character running around nude with ample close-ups of her nipples. That Watase, I wonder sometimes. Maybe she's friends with the CLAMPsters.

I do like the Hotohori episode, it's very sad if horribly melodramatic, and rips off "Ghost", but his son...oh, Boushin. Your shiny round freakishly large head just makes one want to kick it, I sympathize with Tasuki on that.

The entire Tasuki wanting Miaka plot makes me physically ill. It seems so wrong, and he's so not himself, it's just..sick. I swear, watching it is harder than if he were, say, Miaka's father. They just don't belong together. And it shoots Tasuki down 50 points on the coolness ladder. But yes, everyone has to fall for Miaka at some point, it's a prerequesite for being in the show!

It's good to see Nuriko again, but that's it. His wussy brother is dissapointing. Nuriko's a little dissapointing, too..he flips and flies and giggles like a little girl, but I guess he can't kick ass if he's dead.

Most improved in the OAVs: Yui. She's not bad when she's sane. Hella better than Miaka, anyway. And longer hair makes her less painful to look at. She's not the little dutch boy anymore!

My standings are now:
1) Nuriko
2) Hotohori
3) Tasuki
4) Nakago
5) Keisuke

and so on.

Ah well, I love the DVDs themselves anyway. Pioneer knows how to release pretty sets. I'd kill for the Seiryuu box, I haven't seen the latter part of the series in a couple years. Only $107 with OrderBox! Something to aspire to.

"aaaaTASHI waaaa anaTA...wasurenaide....aaaaaaaaNATA waaaa ataSHI"..something something...funny song.

UPN 9 hasn't been coming in since the world trade center horror..I miss STV.

I signed up for that DVD profiler thing, only to make other collectors feel better about their own lists. I've seen some with over 900 discs. Oi.

http://www.dvdprofiler.com/mc.asp?alias=Suika&type=O

I wish I could get it to show them by title, not date of purchase, because they're not accurate and it's all whacked.

Background Noise: my poor playstation spinning, spinning
Activity: drying hair

I am the Super Puzzle Fighter master.

That is all.

Background Noise: the TV..GG
Activity: reading the painful letters from the oh-so-young Gals ML members

"Akira Amamiya is a beautiful young man who is known for his sexual prowess. I really wish Suncoast would have had volume 2 now, because volume 3 starts off..'the morning after', so to speak, and I'm left without knowing what happened the night before. It's such a..change from volume 1. BIG change. All three episodes had me teary. I didn't know who to feel worse for..Ichan, Akari, Ayla, or Jessie. So I pitied them all. I haven't pitied so many characters in one show since Sailormoon (and that for different reasons).

There's a silver reward scroll on the beach behind those huge gates.

How happy I'd be if I were alone.
